Burgh Primary School first opened in 1875.  Burgh is a non-denominational school situated in the Scottish Borders serving the town of Galashiels. It is part of the Eildon West Learning Community. The school has strong links with its immediate local community, whilst also forming partnerships with the other 10 primary schools.  Learning opportunities and transition experiences are promoted through links with Galashiels Academy, which is where our children transfer to for their secondary education.

There are currently 8 classes in the school and full day nursery sessions for 3 and 4 year olds. We are supported by a Support for Learning teacher (0.6) and also a PE specialist, who provides each class, including nursery, with two sessions of quality PE a week as well as delivering further health & wellbeing lessons. A teacher for the hearing impaired has supported a child 2 mornings a week and has taught Sign Language to classes and staff. We have close working relationships with our School Nurse, Community Police Officer and Community Learning and Development worker.
